Compliance and Regulatory Workshop

Planning ahead

As Heraclitus rightly stated, change is the only constant in life.

The Financial Services industry has experienced many changes in 2018. Top in the list of changes is the new accounting standard, IFRS 9, whose adoption is mandatory for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2018 thus effectively repealing IAS 39. Whereas IFRS 9 introduces new accounting practices of accounting for credit risk, these new accounting practices come with their fair share of tax implications.

Several contentious tax proposals have also made their way to the courts. These include some provisions of the Finance Bill 2018 that directly affect the Financial Services industry.

To analyse these key changes and provide you with an understanding of how they affect players in the financial services sector, Deloitte School of Tax is pleased to invite you for our upcoming tax workshop that will take place on Tuesday, 13 November 2018.

The tax workshop will cover the following areas:

  • Tax implications arising from the implementation of IFRS 9;
  • Tax implications arising from the implementation of IFRS 16; and
  • Recent case law and tax disputes affecting Financial Services Sector tax obligations in particular, Capital Gains Tax, VAT, Stamp Duty and Excise duty.
Target audience:
  • Finance professionals, tax professionals and credit officers in the financial services sector
