Life at Deloitte

World Mental Health Day 2022

What’s really on your mind?

At Deloitte Middle East, our commitment to ensure a distinguished employee experience that enables work life harmony, physical health, reduced stress, and enriched lives - does not waver. Workplace wellbeing is a business imperative – we know that when our people have what they need to manage their wellbeing, they are more productive, better engaged, and better able to serve our clients. But for us, wellbeing at work is also personal. We have made a commitment to support our people to be their best and make a positive impact, through enabling and supporting mental health and wellbeing as critical elements of inclusion for all our practitioners. Our employees’ wellbeing is a crucial aspect in achieving our purpose; making an impact that matters to our clients, our people and our communities.

World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is observed on October 10 every year. The day seeks to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and to mobilize efforts to support it on a global basis –including in the workplace.

Deloitte Middle East CEO, Mutasem Dajani, said the following when asked about the importance of upholding mental wellbeing in the workplace:

We are a vibrant, inclusive and diverse business and we work hard to keep our people’s wellbeing at the center of our working practices. In recent years there has been significant change in the way we live, work and communicate. This has impacted people globally, and Deloitte has responded by broadening its wellbeing strategy. This remains central to our values and will continue to do so throughout our journey of business.

Consider the many times you are asked how you are throughout the day. Do you think about how you are feeling before you respond? It is common for us to reply: “I’m fine”, even when we are not.

Deloitte’s 2022 WMHD digital campaign challenged the stigma surrounding conversations about mental health. It illustrated the ways in which we can all express how we are really doing, and to encourage people to discuss mental health and emotional wellbeing in the workplace.

The support we offer at Deloitte Middle East is extended through a number of resources and channels available to all employees:

  • Deloitte Employee Assistance Program (DEAP): DEAP provides our people and their immediate family members with confidential year-round expert counselling support sessions.
  • Medical Insurance Coverage: DME’s medical insurance covers a range of wellbeing and treatment options, from traditional to alternative and complimentary treatment.
  • Internal Support: An individual can reach out to several experienced and trained advisors in the buinsess to discuss any concerns and ask for guidance.
  • DME Ethics: We have Ethics Officers throughout Middle East where our people can discuss any concerns or questions which they feel may not align with our values and purpose.

Remember, the world isn’t perfect; so you don’t have to be either.
