Deloitte hosts G4 Guidelines & GRI Taxonomy launch
The latest version of sustainability reporting framework released
The local launch of the G4 Guidelines and the release of the GRI Taxonomy 2013 attracted around 100 sustainability professionals to the Deloitte Office in Rotterdam.
Bastian Buck from Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) introduced G4, the latest version of the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework. G4 has been updated to reflect important current and future trends in the sustainability reporting domain, such as boundary and materiality. Views on these topics were shared during an expert panel in November 2013 represented by Alliander, Deloitte, Port of Rotterdam, RAI Conference Center and VDBO.
After the local introduction of G4, the GRI Taxonomy 2013 was released by Elina Sviklina from GRI and Dave van den Ende and Paul Hulst from Deloitte. GRI Taxonomy 2013 is a digital classification system of the GRI Guidelines including G4. It enables reporting organizations to disclose their sustainability reports in a digital format that can easily be consumed by the information users. Three software vendors, SAP, IBM, and Amana Consulting, demonstrated the preparation of a digital sustainability report using the GRI Taxonomy.
Deloitte has been involved in GRI’s transition to digital reporting since 2012. Recently GRI launched the ‘G4 XBRL Reports Program’ to encourage G4 reporters to publish their sustainability reports digitally. Participation in the program is a great opportunity to showcase leadership and innovation in sustainability reporting
