Embedding security into the public cloud DNA

Considerations for the public cloud migration journey

Read our report to learn more about the key security considerations associated with public cloud adoption and steps to ensure security by design as you lead your organisation's cloud migration journey.

The cloud is increasingly becoming the primary location for organisations to host services and data. Many organisations have already migrated their applications to cloud platforms, and many of those that haven't are currently planning to do so. The cloud offers benefits such as faster times-to-production, increased automation, and optimised costs and performance. However, this new technology also poses security and compliance concerns that need to be addressed.

With cloud native services and platforms being increasingly adopted, the traditional way of securing solutions is becoming less effective. We have seen this lead to two outcomes, neither ideal: 1) business and technology functions prioritise faster deployments and increased automation often neglecting security concerns, or 2) the security and compliance functions slow the changes and the speed at which new functionalities are introduced, diminishing the full power of the cloud and harming business competitiveness.

An organisation with a clear cloud risk management strategy–aligned with its overall cloud strategy–has a key foundation on which the objectives of its business, technology and security functions can be aligned. In this report, we provide recommendations for organisations to adopt a conscious, integrated approach to embed security into their cloud DNA from the beginning, via five key areas of focus.
