ESG in Action 2024

The contest for the best sustainability reports in the Baltics is now open!

About the contest

 

ESG in Action is a recognition awarded by Deloitte Baltics for the best sustainability reports in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. It aims at identifying and rewarding excellence in sustainability reporting in the Baltics and promoting transparency, comparability, completeness, and clarity within non-financial information disclosures.

Companies and organizations are invited to submit their sustainability reports by the 15th of September and the following nominations are available for participation:

1. The Best Sustainability Report in the Baltics 

  • Small companies - (including micro companies) have annual turnover of up to 10 million EUR, average balance sheets of up to 5 million EUR, and fewer than 50 employees.
  • Medium companies - average net turnover of more than 10 million and up to 50 million EUR, average balance sheets up to 25 million EUR, fewer than 250 employees.
  • Large companies - exceeding 2 out of 3 criteria - average net turnover of at least 50 million EUR, average balance sheets of at least 25 million EUR, at least 250 employees.

2. Rising star (for companies reporting 1st time)

The categories may be merged if a few reports are submitted for one of the categories.

 

ESG in Action constitutes an excellent opportunity to present your sustainable practice and ways of consciously and actively managing a company’s economic, social, and environmental impacts. Sustainability has been an integral part of many entity’s operations for a long time. Coupled closely with a company's strategy, it brings success and an improved financial position to the company in the long run. ESG in Action aims to encourage, recognize, and promote companies that started their journey with sustainability reporting and inspiring others to follow.

 

Why it is worth participating in the contest?

 

  • Increase the company’s recognition and brand awareness in the sustainability field.
  • Have a unique chance to receive unbiased feedback about the submitted report.
  • Receive individualized suggestions and recommendations that will positively impact your future ESG reporting. 

Reports submitted for the contest and the jury feedback on the reports will not be additionally published or made available to the public at large. 

 

The submission process for ESG in Action in the Baltics

 

We are inviting you to apply to ESG in Action by submitting your sustainability report in English or local languages by the 15th of September 2024. Please fill in the application form and upload your separate sustainability or integrated annual report for the financial year 2023.

ESG in Action 2023 Contest Winners

 

In 2023 in the category “Best Sustainability Report” the winner on the Baltic level was awarded to “SCHWENK Latvija” and the best report in Lithuania went to “Vilniaus pakuotė”. In the category “Best Integrated Report” Baltic level winner was awarded to “Ignitis grupė” and the best report in Latvia went to “Latvenergo”.

The award-winning reports put forward exceptional detail and focus on material Environmental, Social, and Governance topics. They feature measurable outcomes, clear priorities, and specific targets, along with the activities and progress made over time. These reports showcase an unwavering commitment to sustainable business practices through strategic decisions guided by robust data. They present substantive information in a format that is accessible and engaging to readers.

 

The jury of ESG in Action 2024

 

The reports will be evaluated by an independent Jury composed of sustainability enthusiasts and experts from various organizations. 

The jury will follow a set of evaluation criteria centered on several key aspects. Firstly, reports must show continuous improvement by setting and achieving sustainability targets and documenting both past progress and future goals. They should clearly communicate the company's adopted values, policies, and procedures, effectively managing ESG areas within and beyond the organization. Relevant sustainability issues should be strategically focused, with performance disclosures tailored to sector-specific and company-specific risks and opportunities. Reports must provide up-to-date, reliable information of a positive and negative nature, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions. Ideally, sustainability disclosures reflect contributions to the direct community and the broader social context through clear, organized, and engaging information presentations. Finally, integrating financial and non-financial data, with a focus on strategy and future orientation, is essential to providing a comprehensive view of the company’s long-term value proposition.
