Immigration & Labour Law changes in Lithuania

1 January 2023

There are several significant changes in immigration and labour law/social security regulation effective from 1 January 2023 in Lithuania:

╰┈➤ Applications for temporary residence permit (TRP) can be submitted outside of Lithuania, which means that TRP can be collected outside of Lithuania as well and foreigners from countries with a non-visa free regime can avoid visa process for arrival;

╰┈➤ TRP application processing terms are shortened by 1 month (15 calendar days term applies for fast-track of EU Blue Card, ICT permits, etc.)

╰┈➤ Changes in childcare leave schemes: 2 months of childcare leave belongs to each of the parents until child is 18 or 24 months old and cannot be transferred to another person (if not used, entire childcare leave will be shortened respectively).
