Can you tell me about your unusual work and assignments?

When I tell new friends that I work in the Forensic Department of Deloitte Luxembourg, they imagine me wearing a CSI jacket and collecting evidence from crime scenes like in TV shows such as “NCIS” or “Bones”; the reality is, of course, totally different. Being part of the Forensic & Anti-money laundering team provides exciting assignments such as fraud investigations, anti-money laundering procedures gap analysis, collecting information through public records and much more. I could not describe a typical day, but I can tell you that my work usually includes field work, evidence collection, analysis, client relationship management and of course team work.

At Deloitte, you’re not part of a department, you’re part of a company specialized in several fields, hence I often participate in cross services assignment for instance supporting our ERS Business Risk team or even External Audit teams. I could not describe a typical day, but I can tell you that my work usually includes field work, evidence collection, analysis, client relationship management and of course team work.

Do you work on assignments abroad?

So far I’ve worked on a single assignment abroad, which was rich in emotions when our rental car broke down the day of the return to Luxembourg and my team and I got stuck in a tiny village.

I’ve also participated in several trainings delivered by Deloitte member firms in London, Prague, Vienna, Brussels and Frankfurt. Several colleagues of mine have travelled for foreign assignments in Switzerland, Greece, Spain, Germany… Being part of Deloitte means we’re part of a global network with countless opportunities for cross border assignments but also international mobility, one of my colleagues just signed up for a two year assignment with Deloitte Cayman Islands !

Why did you choose Deloitte Luxembourg?

I chose Deloitte Luxembourg because it was the unique place of work in the private sector which offered interesting opportunities in the fight against financial crime in 2008. Deloitte Luxembourg was a pioneer and is still maintaining its edge as a renowned firm and is the AML competence centre for the EMEA region. I also knew of Deloitte as several friends of mine had performed internships in Audit and they were all unanimous about the great corporate spirit, so I didn’t hesitate.

How do you take part in the life at Deloitte?

Being part of Deloitte also provides you with the opportunity to involve yourself in its internal life. Over my 5 years with Deloitte, I’ve taken part in several internal initiatives such as teaching English polyglot clubs, delivering AML trainings, participating in a Humanitarian mission sponsored by Deloitte Luxembourg to train Micro Finance Institutions on the topic of AML in Vietnam and I’ve also enjoyed the ski weekends organized by Deloitte Luxembourg. I’m sure I will have plenty more opportunities to get involved in Deloitte internal events!
