Can you tell me more about your background?
I have a Bachelor degree in accountancy and management from Henallux Arlon (formerly Haute Ecole Blaise Pascal). This background allowed me to acquire and develop solid knowledge in accounting, direct and indirect taxation and in economics. During this period, I also improved my understandingof business English and my skills in various computer software applications. I was very interested to see the numerous opportunities available for Bachelor students at Deloitte Luxembourg, whether it be in accountancy, audit or advisory services.
Can you explain your evolution since the beginning of your career at Deloitte?
I started at Deloitte in a summer job in the tax compliance department and just a few months later I had the opportunity to do an internship in the same department. I was involved immediately in the day-to-day work of the department with an important supervision framework. This experience was extremely rewarding, both a professionally and personally. It confirmed that I wanted to pursue my career in the tax department as well as confirmed that Deloitte’s working environment was the right place for me in terms of career aspirations and daily lifestyle. I went on to sign a permanent contract as soon as I obtained my diploma . It was a pleasure to start my career confident with the knowledge that I had made the right choice.
Can you tell us about your work and assignments?
I work in the direct tax compliance department in the area of mergers and acquisitions. My main responsibilities are the following: drafting of the tax returns for international clients, issuing of all documents, forms and certificates required for these returns, liaising with the tax authorities, reviewing the tax provisions prepared by the client. These tasks require prior analysis and verification of accounting information and they are carried out in collaboration with our team of experienced tax advisers and auditors.
How do you take part in the life at Deloitte?
I always go to the happy hours held every month in trendy bars in Luxembourg. These events are a good opportunity to relax, to know better other colleagues, to strengthen team spirit, to extend the professional network or to simply have fun on the dance floor.
I also participate in events such as the ING marathon and “relais pour la vie” wearing the Deloitte colours.
Any message for future candidates who hesitate to apply for Deloitte Luxembourg?
I think that the best way to answer this question is to list the daily advantages, in my opinion, to working at Deloitte Luxembourg: International environment, wide range of development perspectives, team spirit, continuous trainings, daily exchanges with experienced professionals, young and dynamic atmosphere. But also: great relations, fun and parties.
