How is edge computing helping shape the future of IT?

Cloud Architecture

Edge computing is often difficult to define, but what it's really about is making data and devices more affordable and connected, while reducing latency and increasing responsiveness.

Edge and the cloud–shaping the future of IT

Join host Mike Kavis and guest Rob Hirschfeld, founder and CEO of RackN, as they discuss edge computing—taking a deep dive into how edge computing works, applications of edge technologies for business issues, how it’s changing the IT infrastructure and how it’s complementing the cloud computing landscape. They also take a look at the future of edge computing and how it will revolutionize both IT and industry.

What people need to think about with edge is that we should get a real sensor explosion where we can use all sorts of data from all sorts of sources: cameras, wind, weather, passing cars, shared information…that’s the explosion that is the next phase and what really drives edge to be exciting.

Rob Hirschfeld is CEO and co-founder of RackN, leaders in physical and hybrid DevOps software. He has been in the cloud and infrastructure space for nearly 15 years from working with early ESX Betas to serving four terms on the OpenStack Foundation Board and becoming an Execute at Dell. As a co-founder of the Digital Rebar project, Rob is creating a new generation of DevOps orchestration to leverage the containers and service-oriented ops.
