Business Issue

In its pursuit of continuous improvement, the client wants to reshape their internal application SmartNote to address some issues and pain points raised by users. SmartNote is a transversal application for managing notes to the Management Committee. It aims to replace paper-based approval processes and is built on SharePoint.

Solution

The objectives were to redesign the SmartNote App using a user-centric approach to improve the current user experience:

  • Perform research and understand the context and current situation (“AS-IS”) 
  • Collect all the needs and pain points in user interviews 
  • Define UX principles based on user needs and perform testing sessions and meetings all along with the project 
  • Formalize wireframes and mock-ups 
  • Deliver the final screens (mock-ups) for desktop and mobile to be implemented by the client, along with guidelines for SmartNote developers

Value delivered

  • After the revamping of the application, employees should be able to manage documents more efficiently thanks to the new intuitive interface based on their needs 
  • The support provided in terms of UX/UI also implied a set of guidelines that should bring consistency in all the future SharePoint developments
