Ron Given appointed as Deloitte Legal CE Senior Legal Counsel for 19 countries

Deloitte Legal has appointed Ron Given to serve as CE Senior Legal Counsel for its 19 Central and Eastern European countries. The move reflects the firm’s continuing confidence in the region’s economic stature, strength, and prospects as well as its commitment to best serve the growing list of local and international businesses there who are attracted to Deloitte’s unique bundled service offerings.

Ron will focus on improving and strengthening our CE Legal structure and cooperation in order to fully leverage the potential of our regional teams, and to improve our visibility and profile as the first choice law firm for clients and talent in the region.

Ron Given has an established record of success in many of our region’s most important markets, including Poland. His addition to the Deloitte team complements our current standings and the advancement momentum in all of our service lines. His familiarity with the region will allow him to hit the ground running which will be an advantage to all of Deloitte’s staff and clients, said Krzysztof Moczulski, Warsaw-based Deloitte CE Tax & Legal Business Leader.

Deloitte Legal CE is one of the largest law firms in the region, providing comprehensive services in many areas of commercial law. In recent years, the firm has been regularly expanding its team, employing legal advisors and attorneys who are specialists in various areas of law. Deloitte Legal continued to grow strongly in 2019 across Central Europe, establishing itself as a major player in legal services markets of many countries across the region. Our goal and plan is to better leverage the potential of our regional focus and cooperation, and to improve our profile, so that we become the first choice law firm in the region.

We are already the largest CE law firm by headcount and country coverage which is a clear client benefit, but we have absolutely no intention of stopping there, noted Prague-based Jan Spáčil, Deloitte Legal CE Leader. We think a further focus on our exceptional regional capabilities will enhance the value we bring to Deloitte clients and further position us as the first choice law firm in CE, Spáčil added.

Ron Given joins Deloitte Legal from Wolf Theiss, a Vienna-based law firm where he spent over ten years practicing commercial law throughout Central Europe and managing offices in Zagreb, Prague, Kyiv, and Warsaw. He spent a good part of 2019 in Chicago serving as Wolf Theiss’ U.S. Representative. Prior to Wolf Theiss, Ron Given was the general counsel of Argo Group, a listed, Bermuda-based international insurance holding company. He also had a 30-year career as a corporate and banking partner with Mayer Brown, where his practice focused on Asian, European and technology-driven matters.

I am absolutely delighted with this new role, said Ron Given. Deloitte Legal is already a phenomenal regional success with over 400 lawyers in the CE region addressing significant and complex matters of very discerning local and international clients. For sure this success is rooted in the hard work of exceptional lawyers and a positive, collaborative culture that is the envy of so many other law firms, but it has also really been accelerated by the technological savvy and wide business services array that only a firm like Deloitte has on offer. This very attractive client proposition has both impressed and attracted me. I look forward to helping manage and grow the success of this terrific team, Given added.
