Deloitte ranked #1 on DiversityInc’s Top 10 List for Global Diversity

Expanded inclusion efforts help organization maintain position on the list of Top 50 Companies for Diversity®

NEW YORK, 12 May 2014 — Recognized for being at the forefront of initiatives to advance women and other underrepresented groups in a variety of countries in Europe, Asia, the Mideast and Africa, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (Deloitte Global) and its member firm network (Deloitte) secured the top spot on DiversityInc’s Top 10 List for Global Diversity. The organization also maintained its 11th place position on the publication’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity® ranking.

Deloitte’s global diversity strategy supports several foundational practices such as:

  • The setting of global targets for increasing representation, inclusion, and succession of diverse candidates;
  • A global Talent Standard  that drives a focus on diversity  in Deloitte’s member firm network around the world including  an executive-sponsored business case and plan to advance and retain locally relevant diverse groups;
  • An Inclusive Leadership program for Deloitte member firms’ senior client service partners, aimed at equipping them to navigate diversity and lead diverse teams effectively;
  • Various programs worldwide for the advancement and inclusion of diverse people within their environment including women, minorities, Generation Y, and people with disabilities

Now in its 14th year, The DiversityInc Top 50 rankings are determined by an objective methodology that calculates factors such as Talent Pipeline, Equitable Talent Development (including commitments to mentorship and philanthropy), CEO/Leadership Commitment, and Supplier Diversity. The empirical data for the rankings is provided by a 300-question survey filled out by personnel at the participating companies. Survey participation is free to any company with at least 1,000 U.S. workers.

“Inclusion continues to be a core part of our overall talent strategies as we work to provide opportunities for all of our people to thrive,” said Deb DeHaas, chief inclusion officer, Deloitte LLP in the United States. “Through the Deloitte University Leadership Center for Inclusion in the United States, we are providing innovative thinking on changing the conversation on inclusion, as well as building and sustaining inclusive work environments.”

Deloitte’s Inclusion strategy in the United States encompasses several leading-edge initiatives and programs, including:  

  • Career Opportunity Redefinition & Exploration (CORE) Leadership Program for veterans and armed forces members transitioning from military service into corporate-sector jobs
  • “Uncovering Talent” research, for which 61 percent of respondents reported “covering,” the act of hiding some aspect of oneself at work
  • Emerging Leaders Development Program, which is designed to support the career growth of high-performing talent who are primarily minorities
  • Sponsorship of more than 65 chapters of seven national Business Resource Groups, including Black Employee Network & Allies; Hispanic/Latino(a) Employee Network and Allies; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Employees & Allies; and Asian-American Alliance & Allies, among others
