Renovation of Private Sector Buildings Grant Scheme

A new Scheme for the Renovation of Private Sector Buildings (hereinafter the ‘Scheme’), has been issued on 1 July 2022. The Scheme will remain operational until 31 December 2023 and will be administered through a series of competitive calls, with the first call closing on 30 September 2022. The funds for this Scheme have been allocated from the European Commission’s Recovery and Resilience Plan for Malta, under Component 1 of the Plan, entitled ‘Addressing climate neutrality through enhanced energy efficiency, clean energy and a circular economy’.

The objective of this Scheme is to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy demand, lower carbon emissions and limit energy waste through the retrofitting of private sector buildings, provided this is not carried out to comply with European Union standards.

A qualifying undertaking may receive a grant of €300 per m2 capped at €1,000,000 per undertaking, with the following aid intensities:
