Deloitte Educational Programmes set to appeal to Millennials
Deloitte’s third annual Millennial Survey explored what 7,800 Millennials from 28 countries around the world expect of Business, Government and the future workplace. The Millennial generation, also referred to as Generation Y, are those born in the 1980’s and 1990’s and according to David Burstein, worldwide this totals 1.7 million. Approximately one of three people alive in the world today is a member of the Millennial generation. Here at Deloitte Malta, Millennials account for 71% of our total staff complement.
The results of Deloitte’s survey revealed that Millennials want to work for organisations that foster innovative thinking, develop their skills and make a positive contribution to society. “At Deloitte we welcome innovative thinking and believe in the power of teamwork which encourages innovation to emerge. We aspire to be the standard of excellence in all we do and being innovative is a key element in achieving this.” says Malcolm Booker, Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Malta.
Generation Y value the opportunity to expand their skills and Deloitte’s educational programmes do just this. Deloitte Malta actively and financially supports students in their journeys towards becoming Chartered Accountants through the three Deloitte Programmes for tertiary education in professional services. These educational programmes incorporate formal training, apprenticeship and mentoring, active development and on-the-job training through assignments and experiences. Each programme is designed differently and offers students and graduates the flexibility to select the one which best suits their requirements. "Generation Y typically believe that work/life balance is a standard and that an employer should provide them with opportunities for career progression and ongoing learning and development. At Deloitte, fostering career progression and development prospects is a priority and we ensure that our staff are provided with substantial opportunities to assist them in achieving their full potential." says Michelle Bonnici, Head of Human Resources at Deloitte Malta.
The Deloitte ACA Programme allows students to focus on their studies for most of the year while dedicating just a few months of the year to work experience at Deloitte.
The Deloitte ACCA Programme is designed for students wishing to continue their studies during full time employment at Deloitte.
The Deloitte Pathway Programme targets 2nd year and higher students of the University of Malta and provide them with relevant support during their studies, as well as offering them the opportunity to gain work experience during the summer months.
