Deloitte Malta CR&S makes an impact that matters

Press release

The last 12 months have been marked by exciting opportunities and achievements for Deloitte Malta Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S).

Deloitte Malta’s CR&S working group has overseen several Societal Impact and Sustainability initiatives, consistent with an overall strategy to drive Deloitte’s CR&S agenda forwards.

Societal Impact activities have included Monthly Community Impact day collections that have generated over €3000 through staff donations towards various charitable causes such as Hospice Malta, Dar Kenn Ghal Sahhtek, Hospice Malta, Reaching Cambodia, Malta Dementia Society, Action For Breast Cancer, Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem, Sisters of St. Dorothy of St. Paula Frassinetti in the Philippines. More recently, a Literacy initiative has been rolled out which has so far seen an internal book collection raising 1000+ books and, along with Community Impact Day collections, provided bookshelves and books to Dar Merhba Bik and St. Josephs Home in Santa Venera - this last has also been the beneficiary of reconditioned laptops and assistance towards educational expenses for the current scholastic year.

Deloitte’s Internal Sustainability journey is also high on the agenda and has seen several impactful changes, beginning with the Deloitte Malta canteen becoming plastic free as well as a recycling processes for recyclable waste, glass and electrical and electronic equipment (in collaboration with WEEE Malta) being implemented. Such ambitious developments and promising initiatives are set to continue to grow in 2019, including long term environmental impact initiatives and carbon footprint reduction goals.

A key driver in Deloitte Malta’s CR&S strategy is the organisation-wide societal impact initiative WorldClass, whereby Deloitte is committed to “preparing 50 million futures for a world of opportunity”. As advances in technology and digitisation are transforming the ways in which people work, live, and learn, the skills people need to thrive within this new world economy are changing. While these advances present incredible opportunity to individuals and society, millions are being left behind.

By applying its skills, experience, and global reach, Deloitte will make a significant impact in helping those who may otherwise be left behind. By aligning around a common goal and mission, Deloitte is inspiring increased commitment and investment in education, skills development, and access to opportunity.

The Deloitte network is committed to driving societal change and promoting environmental sustainability. Working in innovative ways with business, government, non-profit organisations, and civil society, we are designing and delivering solutions that contribute to a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
