ESEF Seminar

Understanding the impact and addressing the challenges

15 November 2019 | InterContinental Malta, St. Julian’s

The European Single Electronic Format (ESEF) is the new single electronic reporting format for the preparation of annual financial reports to be published by listed companies in the European Union from 2021 onwards.

This format requires one single file that will include the financial statements, the management report and the responsibility statements of the persons responsible within the company.

Companies who prepare consolidated financial statements, on the basis of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will also have to make the financial statements machine-readable, by tagging certain information in their financial statements in accordance with the IFRS Taxonomy using inline specifications (iXBRL).

XBRL stands for eXtensible Business Reporting Language and is an open, international standard for the exchange of financial and non-financial information in digital form. The technology makes reporting more standardised and enables computer systems to automatically recognise and process data throughout the entire reporting chain. This simplifies the delivery of digital reports to various parties and enables better access of information for analysis and benchmarking purposes.

The event

Deloitte Audit and Assurance and Deloitte Technology Consulting are organising a seminar on 15th November 2019 to help management and finance professionals better understand this new reporting format, provide guidance on how to estimate the impact on your business, understand the practical challenges in implementing the standard and ongoing additional requirements.

The seminar will include presentations and panel discussions about the goals of ESEF and what’s happening both at an international level and locally, including a number of case studies.

In addition there will also be technology experts who will highlight different IT enabling tools available and how to automate the required disclosures.
