A guide to assessing your risk data aggregation strategies

How effectively are you complying with BCBS 239?

Risk data aggregation is one of the key pillars of internal governance assessment under SREP. Our BCBS 239 paper gives an overview of the BCBS 239 principles around risk data aggregation, and the key challenges in implementing them.

While the principles outlined in BCBS 239 concentrate on risk data, the end goal is for banks to make timely, defensible, informed decisions. Although all the stakeholders understand the reasons behind and need for this regulation, implementing these principles will challenge banks on many levels.

BCBS 239 principles are primarily aimed at systemic banks, however SREP will drive less significant banks to also adopt the principles proportionally. It is critical that banks find a way to measure their efforts both to satisfy the regulators and to stay on top of the changing compliance landscape. Our BCBS 239 paper provides guidance to banks to help them understand key questions around BCBS 239 principles.
