Seventh edition

The seventh edition of the Malta Asset Management Forum will be held at The Phoenicia Malta, Valletta, on 5 October 2023.
This year’s forum will follow the same format as in previous years, with topics of interest to the asset management community being discussed in a concise manner.
Topics of discussion, amongst others, will be:
- Updates in sustainable finance regulation
- Recent developments in asset management
- Taxation: Risks and opportunities for asset managers and investment firms
- Governance
Registrations to the Malta Asset Management Forum will start at 13:00 CET and the event will conclude with networking drinks at 18:30 CET. A detailed programme can be viewed below.

Przemyslaw Koger - Country Executive / CEO of Alter Domus Malta
Przemyslaw joined Alter Domus in November 2013 after a solid career at PwC London. He has nearly 20 years of experience in financial services and sits on board of Alter Domus regulated entities both in Malta and Luxembourg. He is an approved person by the Malta Financial Services Authority and the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). Furthermore he sits on the boards of asset holding and other companies for a range of Private Equity and Real Estate clients.
Prior to joining Alter Domus, Przemyslaw was part of the asset management assurance practice of PwC where he managed audits of an extensive portfolio of private equity and real estate clients as well as traditional asset managers. He has significant and diverse experience in the financial services sector and during his career was involved in controls assurance work, new fund launches, valuations of unlisted investments and review of incentive schemes. Przemyslaw also has strong technical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, GAPSME and regulatory framework in Malta, Luxembourg and the UK.
Przemyslaw qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC and has a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors in the UK and hold a STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) diploma.
Victoria Gillespie – Head of ESG Solutions, Alter Domus
Victoria joined Alter Domus in May 2023. She is responsible for the management and development of Alter Domus’s global ESG Service.
She is a Certified Chartered Accountant with 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, specialising in various aspects of E, S and G via her experience gained whilst working for asset managers, asset owners, corporates and family offices.
Victoria holds the Investment Operations Certificate awarded by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, Certificate in ESG Investing with the CFA Institute, Certificate in Sustainability within Finance, awarded by ACCA and Certificate in Leading Sustainable Organisations, Certificate in Private Markets – both awarded by Oxford Said Business School. More recently, she was awarded Smiths School of Enterprise Climate Emergency Certification. She is a member of the ACCA Global Sustainability Forum.
Kevin Polidano – Risk Manager, Andurand Capital Management
Mr. Polidano has over 19 years of experience in the financial services Industry. He is currently working for one the world’s largest commodity Hedge funds with over $1.4 billion in Assets under Management, where he is predominantly responsible for Risk management and valuation. Mr. Polidano has also worked as a Corporate Advisor with one of the “big four”, advising a wide range of clients from different sectors on business valuations, preparation of valuation models and assisting auditors on the valuation of complex derivatives. Mr. Polidano has also worked within the Investment management business with the largest financial institution in Malta. Mr. Polidano is an approved by the MFSA as an Investment Committee Member and a Director for Malta based Fund Managers.
Mr Polidano is a Charter Financial Analyst, and holds a Banking and Finance (Honours) degree from the University of Malta. Mr Polidano is also registered with the US National Futures Association (“NFA”) as an Associated Person and has passed the CFTC/FINRA Series 3 Exam and has recently finished the CFA UK Institute Certificate in ESG Investing. He also had stints as a visiting assistant lecturer at the University of Malta within the Faculty of Finance, Economic, Management and Accounting.
Claire Tanti – Deputy Head, Investment Services Division, MFSA
Claire joined the MFSA in 2012, following a number of years working in fund management and is currently the Deputy Head within the MFSA’s Investment Services Supervision function. In her role, Claire leads the Authorisations team which is responsible for handling the entire licensing process of authorised firms including Fund Managers, Collective Investment Schemes, Depositaries and Investment Firms. Throughout her career with the Authority, Claire was also involved in the transposition and implementation of various pieces of European financial services legislation in the investment services and asset management fields particularly, the AIFMD, MiFID II, the IFR/IFD and recently, the Sustainable Finance Package. Claire has also participated in a number of internal working groups focusing on enhancing supervisory practices as well as on further developing the local investment services industry.
Andrzej Tabero - Senior Manager, Head of Legal & Company Secretary Services, Alter Domus
Andrzej Tabero is a highly skilled legal expert who is fluent in multiple languages and boasts extensive experience within the legal industry. He holds a master's degree in Law from Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania.
In 2022, Andrzej joined Alter Domus and assumed the role of leading, managing, and overseeing the Legal & Company Secretary Team. His primary responsibility is to provide timely legal guidance to clients across a wide spectrum of corporate matters, all with the objective of ensuring adherence to standards of sound corporate governance and compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
Before becoming a part of the Alter Domus team, Andrzej spent the initial four years of his career working at the Lithuanian Tax Authority Office, where he represented the State in various tax disputes. In 2009, he joined PwC as a Lawyer and Tax Dispute Consultant, eventually rising to the position of Senior Lawyer.
In 2012, he advanced his career by becoming a Senior Associate at "bnt attorneys in CEE." Later, in 2014, Andrzej made the move to Malta, where he joined the Legal Department at Hili Ventures Limited, a diversified group deeply rooted in entrepreneurial heritage engaged in various activities, including partnerships with prominent brands like McDonald's and Apple.
Starting in 2016, Andrzej served as the Senior Legal Counsel at Hili Ventures Limited within the Transactions and Major Projects Department. In this capacity, he played a vital role in handling legal and corporate matters related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other significant corporate restructuring projects.
In 2021, Andrzej expanded his skill set by taking on the role of a project-based General Counsel for a venture capital fund. In this capacity, he supervised the process of investment transitions and assumed a crucial role within the senior management team.
Doreen Balzan – Head, Investment Services Supervision, MFSA
Doreen Balzan is Head of Investment Services Supervision at the MFSA. She oversees the authorisation and supervision of investment firms, fund managers, collective investment schemes, and recognised private collective investment schemes, as well as registered tied agents and recognised administrators.
Doreen joined the MFSA in 2020, with a career spanning over 38 years, working in multiple operations and transformation roles within the domain of banking and insurance. She has held various senior positions within HSBC Bank Malta and was Chief Operating Officer for HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) prior to joining the MFSA.
Doreen is specialised in operations management, technology projects, portfolio transfers, sustainability, and regulatory and risk management. During her career, she was responsible for major portfolio transfers, involving high-risk legacy investment insurance policies. She gained experience in product development and the implementation of robust procedures and controls to mitigate operational and financial crime risks, de-risking of business models and improving the culture and controls, leading to a material reduction in residual financial crime risk in the insurance business. In her role as Chief Operating Officer, she oversaw multiple projects and work streams, which included the launch of various products and services, a cost reduction programme, and customer-centric initiatives with reengineered and streamlined procedures.
She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Youth & Community Studies from the University of Malta.
