Economic growth

The Maltese economy is expected to grow by 4.2% in real terms during 2015, with a projected growth of 3.6% in real terms in 2016.


During 2015, the unemployment rate in Malta is expected to stand at 5.8% and is projected to reduce further in 2016 to 5.6%.  


The average inflation rate for the year is expected to be 1.0% and is forecast to increase to 1.8% in 2016.


Over the course of the Government’s legislature, nearly 13,450 full time jobs have been created, 10,900 of which in the private sector.
