Mark has extensive experience in regulatory, compliance, risk and audit assignments of firms within the financial services industry, in particular banks. Mark’s area of specialisation is banking regulation; he managed a local engagement to support the Maltese Financial Services Authority and ECB in the Asset Quality Review and Stress Testing of the three systemic banks in Malta in 2014. Mark was also the AQR Provider of a domestically systemic bank in 2015, and is currently involved in designing the AQR methodology for twenty-two banks in Bulgaria, as part of Deloitte’s engagement to advise the Bulgarian National Bank on the project. Mark has provided risk and regulatory training to the Board of Directors of a leading global bank with local presence, and has performed the recovery plans of a number of banks locally. Mark is also currently involved in various advisory engagements such as SREP transformations of banks’ business models, internal governance, and ICAAP processes, and in the past has carried out statutory audits of numerous banks at Deloitte Malta and Deloitte London, including the audit of a domestically systemic Maltese bank.
