Deloitte Malaysia announces change in executive leadership
KUALA LUMPUR, 2 May 2018 – Deloitte Malaysia today announced that Yee Wing Peng, currently Deloitte Malaysia Country Tax Leader, will succeed Datuk Tan Theng Hooi as Deloitte Malaysia’s next Country Managing Partner effective from 1 June 2018. Datuk Tan will be retiring from the position after an illustrious 41-year career with Deloitte.

Yee started his career as an auditor in 1993 and joined Deloitte Malaysia’s tax practice in 1997. He was appointed as Deloitte Malaysia Country Tax Leader in June 2011. Currently also the Deloitte Southeast Asia Business Tax Leader and a member of both the Deloitte Southeast Asia and Malaysia Executive Committees, Yee has 25 years of experience in audit and tax, advising local and multinational companies on an extensive range of tax services and business solutions.
Yee’s leadership appointment is part of a rigorous and comprehensive succession and nomination process, which was overseen by the Board of Directors of Deloitte Southeast Asia.

Datuk Tan has been leading Deloitte Malaysia as Country Managing Partner since 2008 and is also a member of the Board of Directors of Deloitte Southeast Asia. Upon his retirement, he will serve as Senior Advisor in Deloitte Malaysia until the end of 2018. Datuk Tan started his career with Kassim Chan & Co (currently known as Deloitte Malaysia) in 1977. A respected figure in the Malaysian business community, he is currently serving as the President of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and is also Council Member and Chair of Audit Risk Management Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

On the appointment of Yee as his successor, Datuk Tan said, “Wing Peng has proven his capability to lead with high performance and success at the helm of our tax practice. Listed in the 2016 Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Advisers, Yee also serves as the Southeast Asia Tax & Legal Strategy Officer and is responsible for the development and execution of key tax strategies in the region. In addition, he leads the Chinese Services and Korean Services Groups for the Malaysia office and has successfully spearheaded a number of talent initiatives.
He is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, a Fellow Member of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), UK and a member of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia.
