Fighting Corruption: A new era of corporate governance

On 23 April 2019, Deloitte Malaysia hosted a forum on “Fighting Corruption: A new era of corporate governance”, discussing how businesses can embrace the fight against corruption, the challenges involved and how to prepare for this inevitable change.

Yee Wing Peng, Deloitte Malaysia Country Managing Partner, delivered the opening speech, before our invited guest, Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nur Lokman bin Samingan, Head, Private Sector Branch, Community Education Division from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) took the stage to share about enhancing corporate governance by understanding legal liabilities. Oo Yang Ping, Deloitte SEA Forensic Digital Solutions Director and Malaysian Forensic Leader, also gave insights on the modernisation of compliance and how technology continues to accelerate the need for businesses to have an effective corporate governance system in place.

A panel discussion, moderated by Cheryl Khor, Deloitte APAC Operational Risk Leader, closed out the forum. Panellists Mohd Nur Lokman, Dato’ Rohaizad Yaakob (Chief Integrity Officer, PETRONAS) and Jarrod Baker (Deloitte SEA Forensic Investigations Leader) shared the effective strategies in combating corruption and the challenges faced by organisations in the new age of corporate governance.
