Session 8:D-SIB Framework and Recovery & Resolution Planning

13 May 2019

With the continuous evolution of the regulatory landscape, financial services firms need to be aware of and ultimately, be prepared to deal with the challenges of diverging regulatory frameworks. On 13 May 2019, Deloitte Malaysia’s Risk Advisory (RA) team hosted the eighth session of the ongoing FSI Regulatory Talk Series, titled “D-SIB Framework and Recovery & Resolution Planning.” A total of 33 participants from various financial services institutions attended the session.

Justin Ong (FSI Financial & Regulatory Risk Leader) started the session by walking the participants through the significance of RRP, along with the potential implementation challenges in the local context. The session also explored RRP from an Islamic perspective, covering issues encountered by Islamic financial institutions. Adding onto Justin’s sentiments, Wong Nai Seng (Deloitte Singapore’s RA Executive Director) and Benjamin Chong (CIMB Bank Malaysia Berhad’s Group Corporate Assurance Director) both weighed in on the Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs) landscape.
