Black Economic Empowerment

As a firm we have long recognised the importance of developing all people in Namibia who have the will to become accounting professionals. We are proud to say that this policy which was implemented aggressively from the 1980’s has resulted in black Namibians (Refer to Annexure A)  being in a position now to service the business needs of some of Namibia’s key business and governmental organisations.

We are delighted to state that 41 of our 55 trainees are black Namibians. We received the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants in Namibia (“ABAN”)’s recognition award in 2008 for having the highest number of candidates from formerly disadvantaged groups qualifying as chartered accountants in Namibia.

In 2012, the by the Employment Equity Commission awarded Deloitte second prize in the Best Performer Category for our commitment to the furtherance of the objectives and aims of the Employment Equity Act.

We are committed to contributing to the growth and development of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) in Namibia and, in so doing, maintaining our profile as one of the leaders in Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE).  Our current BBBEE scorecard rates our office as an “Exceptional Contributor”.

This commitment is also embedded throughout our Southern African practice and is evidenced through the South African firm’s accreditation as a level 2 contributor (Empowerdex AAA) on the BBBEE scorecard
