Our greatest assets
Our Namibian Identity
Deloitte & Touche in Namibia is a member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, an international accounting firm founded in 1845 in London. We have been operating in Namibia since 1959, serving a wide variety of clients throughout Namibia.
We leverage off our international connections and have all the technical expertise, industry specialists and resource capacity required to deliver an innovative, high-quality audit and to provide a complete suite of corporate activity support. Our audit partners and managers in Namibia have a wealth of experience for you to call upon. We provide a range of auditing, risk advisory, accounting and finance advisory, taxation and consultancy services. Currently we have 128 employees (including 6 Partners and 2 Directors). Over 86% of our staff members are Namibians.
Employment of non-Namibians
Our policy is to employ Namibians. However, where we are unable to find suitably qualified Namibians to meet our commitments to our clients we seek to employ non-Namibians. We do this so that we can meet the business needs of our clients.
Deloitte Namibia has a significant number of Chartered Accountants (CA's) in relation to its total number of professional employees. Our firm currently has 20 chartered accountants in its employ, of which 12 are qualified black chartered accountants. Deloitte has produced, on average, 29% of Namibia’s chartered accountants over the last 9 years, and over 42% of all black chartered accountants in Namibia.
Our Risk Advisory business unit holds, amongst others, highly specialized computer audit capability, including three Certified Information Systems Auditors (CISAs), one Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and two Certified Internal Auditors (CIAs).
Gerda Brand, who holds Law degree, HDip Tax and a Diploma in VAT, is the Tax Director heading up the tax division. The team comprising seven full time tax professionals. The tax team members hold various tax degress and diplomas and has a depth of knowledge covering the entire spectrum of taxes.
As a firm we are dedicated to the development of our Namibian staff. The firm has a well-established Financial Assistance programme to provide financial assistance to students obtaining the three year “CA stream” degree at an accredited South African university or at the University of Namibia (UNAM) and Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) as well as a SAICA accredited postgraduate certificate/degree in accountancy, which is normally done in South Africa, as Namibia does not have a facility that provides the qualification in order for them to obtain the required post- graduate degree to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. We do this through providing bursaries to Namibians, particularly those from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, to study toward their qualifications as Namibian chartered accountants.
