Marie-José (MJ) leads a global sanctions and export controls practice and team at Deloitte Legal.
She focuses on global, sanctions and export control laws and regulations (including EU, US (ITAR and EAR, and OFAC), Israeli, Qatar and UAE in various industries such as semiconductors, digital, connectivity, manufacturing, aerospace), internal investigations, cybersecurity (e.g., NIST), and ABC and AML.
She has been working as a military-lawyer, in-house lawyer, independent gov’t consulting contractor, and licensed attorney at Dutch and global US big law firms in several jurisdictions, in particular the Netherlands, UK, Belgium and U.S.. She also worked at US Dept of Army, Office of the Judge Advocate General at The Pentagon and Ft Belvoir, and has good contacts at various agencies, and a network of attorneys.
She assists companies in various industries to lawfully export goods, services, capital and technology, and covers the full spectrum of trade controls services: design and implement US and EU internal compliance programs, provide legal advice, classify items with/without automation tooling, apply for licenses, internal audits, strategy (export controls by design) negotiate (settlements) with domestic, EU, and US gov’t agencies.
