Why a lab about 'scaling agile'?

Agile is a buzzword that can be seen as a synonym for new ways of working, focused on making organizations adaptive to continuous change. These new ways of working enable companies to deal with changing customer needs, markets, and technologies. In recent years, a lot of organizations have started applying various agile philosophies, such as Scrum, Spotify model, Holacracy and/or Semco Style with a limited amount of teams within their organization.

However, applying agile ways of working across an organization requires more than scaling up the number of teams working in an agile way. It requires redesigning collaboration (both internal and external), changing roles and responsibilities, and it has significant implications for leadership (styles). Moreover, it can be complicated to combine agile ways of working with existing organizational processes that still use a traditional waterfall approach, for budgeting, financial control, product launches and financial reporting. 

Successful scaling of agile ways of working to more than 50-100 employees requires a proper redesign of various elements within your organization. These elements consist of delivery, financial controls, new roles and capabilities, portfolio management and collaboration with internal and external parties. In addition, it is important to apply an agile way of working only where it will add value, since not all parts of the organization are suitable for an agile approach.

For whom will this agile Lab be interesting?

Organizations from all sectors/industries that have gained experiences in scaling agile across organizational units for more than 10 teams. The Lab is relevant to organizations that have experience with agile ways of working and are looking for guidance, innovative practices, tools and approaches to successfully scale agile further within their organizations.

What will we do during the agile Lab?

We will create an inspiring environment for different organizations to work on their own ‘real life’ cases in teams of 3-5 persons. Teams will be accompanied by Deloitte agile experts. The day will result in an energizing and tailored action plan that will help you to take (optimization of) scaled agile collaboration across your organization to a higher level. 

In short, the program consists of the following building blocks:
• Welcome & introduction to ‘Scaling Agile’

• Plenary presentations ‘real life’ cases and exchange of experiences

• Expert carrousel with Deloitte experts (speed dates)

• Brainstorm guided by Deloitte facilitators and experts

• Concretize insights into action plans for each team

• Closing the loop: Plenary evaluation of insights

• Networking & drinks

When and where does the agile Lab take place?

On Thursday 18 January 2018 from 8:30 till 18:00 hours in the i-Zone of the Deloitte office in Utrecht.

Investment & registration

The participation fee per team is €4.500 (excl. VAT), with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 participants per team. This includes a lunch and drinks at the closure of the event. Please submit the registration form on behalf of one representative of your team. The organizing committee will contact you upon registration, to collect names and details of the other team members. 

Cancellation

Until four weeks before the start of the agile Lab you may cancel your participation in writing, free of charge. Should you cancel within four weeks before the start of the course, you will have to pay the full participation fee. In the event of insufficient participants we reserve the right to cancel the agile Lab at any time or move the date of the event. If so, you will be informed in due time.
