Health and Humanitarian Supply Chains

Health and Humanitarian Supply Chains

Improving the distribution of essential health and humanitarian commodities in low- and middle-income countries

Deloitte works with multilateral health, development and humanitarian agencies, governments and the private sector to strengthen health and humanitarian supply chains across the globe. Resilient supply chains are a key lever to accelerate impact and contribute to achieve the health and hunger related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

What are issues / things we are trying to solve?

We are eager to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to Hunger (SDG 2) and Health (SDG 3). To reduce hunger and improve health outcomes, people across the world need access to high quality food and medical products, delivered to them through well-functioning supply chains. Unfortunately, we are not there yet: Global progress towards SDG 2 & 3 has been impeded as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic and many countries face large (and increasing) shortages of food and medicines.

How we contribute

We understand the importance of health and humanitarian supply chains. In our previous engagements, we have seen common challenges that need to be overcome to create well-functioning, resilient supply chains and make a sustainable impact.

While the nature of our engagements differs by organization, question and country, Deloitte typically takes the end-customer- / patient-centric approach. We engage stakeholders to create momentum for change and root proposed solutions in their local context. We are used to translate complexity into pragmatic and actionable results, helping you to take decisive actions.

What we bring to the table

Deloitte has a unique skillset geared to help our clients navigate around common challenges and drive change. Most importantly, we bring an outsider’s perspective. Our engagements are characterized by:

  1. A combination of our global reach and local expertise. Our extensive global network (150+ countries) and our ability to provide expert and local resources across the globe enables us to work in almost any country;
  2. An understanding of the ecosystem. Deloitte has an extensive track record in working with key players in the health and humanitarian sector, with whom we have designed, implemented and improved development programs, established multi-stakeholder collaborations & partnerships, and executed transformations. This allows us to connect the ecosystem, bring down (programmatic) barriers, and create a more harmonized approach to supply chain transformations;
  3. A combination of our private and public sector supply chain knowledge. We bring world-leading supply chain experience from our private sector engagements. Through our engagements in the sector, we have a deep understanding of the global, global-to-local, and local (in-country) health and humanitarian supply chains. This enables us to bring best practices and private sector solutions & innovations to the sector;
  4. A purposeful attitude. Contributing to solve one of society’s biggest challenges lies at the heart of our values and strategy. It is no surprise that the feedback we usually get is that our teams show high dedication to the project and are fun to work with.

Did we spark your interest?

Deloitte can help you make an impact by improving your health and humanitarian supply chain. We look forward to exploring opportunities to drive change and further shape health and humanitarian supply chains across the globe.
