Control rationalization paradigm: myth or achievable?

Over the years, organizations are tied up in risk control frameworks. Legislation demands an efficient way to establish and manage these control frameworks. Complying with regulations requires more effort of organizations and involves an increasing cost of compliance at the same time. It could be a struggle for insurers to keep up with these developments. During this Learning on the Go, we will inform you about how tools, such as continuous control monitoring, can help you deal with control rationalization. Deloitte will provide you the do’s and don’ts with regard to the toolings.

Solvency II reporting

After a succesfull IFRS4 session, on November 17 we will host a next session on 'Solvency II' as part of the Learning on The Go traject. After many years of preparation, the Solvency II standards has become effective on January 1st 2016. The first external test was performed by the external auditor, who performed agreed upon procedures (‘AUP’), as requested by the Dutch Central Bank, earlier this year. Although most insurers assumed they complied with the requirements as tested by the AUP, the external auditor’s AUP reports often showed an extensive list of deviations and deficiencies’.

During this Learning on the Go, we will address the practical implications of Solvency II readiness for employees and management involved in the Solvency II process, and how to prepare for the upcoming external audit.

Date: Thursday November 17th
Time: 14h30 welcome; session from 15h00 - 17h00

IFRS4 Phase II

On September 21st we will host a session on 'IFRS4 Phase II' as part of the Insurance Learning on the Go traject. During this presentation, we will address the practical implications of IFRS 4 Phase II, and how to prepare for the transition.

In 1997 the IASB started the project on insurance contracts. Now, nearly two decades later, the IASB is about to issue the new IFRS accounting standard on insurance contracts. From the exposure draft and the IASB deliberations, we know what the new methodology and requirements will entail. The impact on the actuarial models, systems, data, processes and accounting will be profound.

Location: The Edge, Amsterdam
