Deloitte New Zealand expands South Island presence

Christchurch, 20 September 2023: Deloitte New Zealand is pleased to announce the expansion of its Christchurch presence through the targeted addition of senior subject matter experts, adding to the combined skillset the firm offers in the South Island, and across the country.

In the current economic and geopolitical landscape, the need for a breadth of expertise, across industries and locations has never been more apparent, says Deloitte Christchurch Managing Partner, Steve Law.

“With this in mind, we are proud to reinforce our commitment to Christchurch with the addition of expert leaders who will further strengthen the expertise of our team. They will place a particular focus on issues that we know are important to our clients including the areas of infrastructure, cyber security, forensics, ServiceNow and privately held business.”

Driven by the region’s strategic importance, the recent appointment of senior experts into the partnership has broadened the horizons of Deloitte’s advisory for clients and demonstrates core local capabilities and solutions. Norm Castles, who has recently joined Deloitte as a Partner in Infrastructure and Commercial Advisory, gives clients access to his 20 years of experience in major projects advisory, establishment and delivery.

Also joining Norm and the team as a Director is project manager, risk manager and civil engineer, Liz Robinson, who is practiced in risk analysis, engineering management, contract administration and procurement. The newly strengthened infrastructure advisory reflects New Zealand’s significant infrastructure challenge and will allow the firm to work alongside its clients to deliver market-leading solutions across the asset lifecycle, in both the public and private sectors.

With an increasing demand for organisations to strengthen their cyber security posture, newly appointed Director, Nicoleta Croitoru will focus on helping organisations achieve this. Her experience in both public and private sectors adds to the office’s expanding Cyber team. Catherine Davidson, an experienced Director from our Auckland forensics and e-Discovery team is also relocating to Christchurch and together with Nicoleta will increase the breadth and scale of Deloitte’s broader Risk Advisory practice in the South Island.

Consulting Partner and National ServiceNow leader, Harald Heimensen has also been appointed as Deloitte’s Global Head of ServiceNow Asset Development. He has developed several ServiceNow certified store applications including DeloitteRESOLVE and Ecountable, as well as leading the development of CaseSolve and ClaimsView.

“To have a global leader based in Christchurch, shows the depth of skills we are carrying within our local team” notes Law.

As the South Island presence grows, the Christchurch office’s unique opportunities are attracting Deloitte talent from all over the country, helping to serve the increasing pipeline of work in the region.

Recently relocating to Christchurch, Deloitte Private Partner, Jamie Hall accesses a skillset encompassing tax, financial planning, strategy, and governance to help maximise shareholder value. Having provided tax and business advisory services to privately owned companies for the last 12 years, Jamie will work alongside a team that boasts innovative solutions that can be tailored to businesses across New Zealand to help them achieve growth.

“It’s exciting to watch our knowledge base grow as we expand on the areas of service that we’re able to offer our clients,” continues Law.

“We are committed to investing in our skillset in Christchurch and will be welcoming additional technical experts in the coming months.
