New Deloitte actuarial partner appointed
Adam Follington blends technical expertise and a pragmatic approach
Deloitte has announced the appointment of Auckland-based Adam Follington as a partner in the firm’s actuarial team, effective from 1 December.
Mr Follington has 19 years’ experience, including heading the actuarial team at AMP New Zealand. He joined Deloitte in 2010 and has been instrumental in helping grow the firm’s actuarial business that now includes fully fledged teams in both Wellington and Auckland.
Mr Follington has broad industry experience working with a variety of clients across different industry sectors. He says there are a number of ways to solve an actuarial problem and he enjoys the challenge of exploring all the angles.
“The best solution will usually involve a blend of technical expertise with a healthy dose of pragmatism and an understanding of the commercial environment,” says Mr Follington.
“I take an open-minded approach and am energised by people with different opinions from my own. It’s through this collaborative process that we can help our clients solve the most complicated problems that they can’t solve themselves.”
Originally from Australia, he is a fellow of both the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and the New Zealand Society of Actuaries. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University in Sydney.
Mr Follington says he’s looking forward to getting stuck in to his new role as partner.
“We have a great actuarial team at Deloitte; smart, dedicated but also lots of fun to be around. As a new partner I want to help the team grow and prosper within Deloitte while introducing actuarial methods to our clients,” he says.
