Mitigating the impacts of climate change is a monumental task. Yet, we know progress is possible if we act collectively. Deloitte has long believed that business cannot succeed if society fails. But now it is vital that we all take the urgent and immediate action to reach the goals of the Paris Agreement..

To do our part to help address the climate crisis and help the world achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, Deloitte is launching WorldClimate, our enhanced strategy to drive responsible climate choices within our organisation and beyond.

Our commitments

We commit to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 for our own operations, ahead of the 2050 timeframe set by the Paris Agreement’s and in line with the 1.5 degrees Celsius scenario. Deloitte’s GHG reduction goals have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Our 2025 goals include:

  • Reducing our business travel emissions 50% per FTE by FY2025 from FY2019 levels
  • Sourcing 100% renewable energy for our buildings by FY2025
  • Engaging with our major suppliers with the goal of having two thirds of them (by emissions) adopt science-based targets
  • Investing in meaningful market solutions for emissions we cannot eliminate

By committing to setting science-based targets, Deloitte has been accepted by the United Nations Global Compact’s Business Ambition for 1.5°C. This secured Deloitte’s participation in the Race to Zero, which mobilizes a coalition of leading net-zero initiatives, representing nearly 25% global CO2 emissions.

We recognise we must align our climate policies, practices, and actions across our organisation, by designating a senior leader to be responsible for climate in each geography; prioritising discussion of climate change on executive agendas; and embedding climate-smart considerations into decisions on office operations, real estate, and investments.

By engaging and educating our employees on climate change impacts – decisions about what they consume, use, and buy – we will enable our people to make positive climate choices at home and at work, and amplify these through their personal networks.

We will collaborate with clients, alliance partners, NGOs, industry groups, suppliers, and others to address climate change at a systems and operations level.


While everyone has a role to play, we believe the future of our people, planet, and profession depends on the business community taking measurable, decisive action on climate change. This is what our stakeholders and our professionals expect of us (82% of Deloitte is made up of millennials and Gen Z for whom climate is the primary concern), and it’s what we should expect of ourselves as responsible global citizens.
