Grant Frear - Partner - FSI & Banking Lead

Grant is one of the senior Consulting partners in our Auckland team and leads our banking sector team. He specialises in technology-enabled business strategies. Grant has lead our Deloitte Digital team and has advised executive teams and boards across a range of strategic issues.

Grant enjoys helping businesses develop and implement great strategies to help them achieve their business goals. He believes the world of business and technology is developing at pace and that things that were once out of reach for many New Zealand businesses are now a reality.

Catherine Law - National Leader - Risk Advisory

Catherine is the National Risk Advisory Leader with over 30 years practitioner and advisory experience in the banking sector in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She is the national leader of our FSI Risk and Regulatory team and specialises in providing strategic enterprise risk management advice (e.g. 3LOD, governance and assurance, digital/technology risk) as well as regulatory and operational risk services to clients.

Her experience also includes implementing regulatory transformation programmes, remediation programmes, the development of regulatory risk management governance models and frameworks and attestation and director due diligence obligations in relation to AML, BS11, CCCFA, FSLAA/B and COFI.

Roopa Raj - Partner - Risk Advisory

Roopa has deep experience in the Financial Services sector focusing on risk, regulatory and compliance, audit and assurance activities. Her experience spans across a number of geographic regions, including UK, Australia and Asia.

Roopa also has a broad range of other experiences including the development of Target Operating Models and Business Process Re-engineering.

Faris Azimullah - Partner - Risk Advisory

Faris is deeply passionate about serving our largest clients within financial services, covering banking, insurance, fintech, credit agencies, financial advisors and fund managers. He has had the privilege of working in this sector for well over 25 years. During this time, he has grown to appreciate the challenges his clients face in the fourth industrial revolution, such as the need to build security, vigilance and resilience against cyber threats to meet customer and regulatory obligations. 

His areas of specialisation cover cyber resilience, crisis/incident management, technology risk and privacy. Faris develops his experience from helping CROs, CIOs, CISOs, boards and risk committees gain the confidence they require when it comes to managing cyber and digital risk.

Rhys Hermansson - Partner - Risk Advisory

Rhys is a Partner within Deloitte's Financial Services Risk and Regulatory team. He has spent over twenty years working within the Financial Services sector, both in New Zealand and the UK, helping his clients navigate through their complex regulatory and operational risk challenges. His experience includes developing and implementing risk frameworks for CCCFA, and FSLAA, as well as leading conduct reviews, product governance assessments and remediation investigations.

Rhys' broad experience means he can apply a pragmatic approach when advising clients in relation to regulatory change, risk management, remediation and compliance. He is a firm believer in helping clients move away from seeing compliance as a tick-box exercise, to looking at the wider opportunity.

Damian Harvey - Partner - Consulting

Damian brings a strong technology focus to his work with banking clients, derived from over 20 years delivering complex technology projects. He leads the Open Banking agenda at Deloitte and is excited about the opportunities that this could bring to New Zealand in encouraging innovation.

His main focus is on Technology Strategy, Cloud Strategy and creating technology platforms that enable rapid delivery. He believes that technology innovation is increasingly crucial to success in the banking sector, and looks forward to helping banking clients deliver this for their business and their customers.

Kris is a director within Deloitte New Zealand's Strategy and Operations practice, specialising in the banking and securities industry. Kris works to solve key change issues with banking clients, namely driving operating model revolution in banking operations to improve ease of doing business with financial institutions for the end customer.

Bindi Shah - Partner - Assurance & Advisory

Bindi is passionate about providing audit and advisory services. Her experience encompasses both a global and local perspective, having worked in Kenya, the United Kingdom and New Zealand in a range of industries including financial services, using a collaborative approach. This experience means she can bring pragmatic solutions and experience-based advice. 

She enjoys problem solving and is always willing to take on challenges and use various tools to enhance the quality of the work we do. Bindi has a desire to keep improving the contribution she makes while learning from others.

Andrew Boivin - Partner - Assurance & Advisory

Andrew's passion lies in helping organisations, and people in those organisations. Having had a variety of roles and international experience, he is used to working with a range of entities on a wide range of projects.

Andrew has a leadership role within the Assurance side of Audit and Assurance in New Zealand. Projects include helping clients with finance function reviews, implementation of digital controllership tools, supporting clients through major disruptive events (such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and IPO), working on financial investigations, and providing technical accounting advice.

Troy Andrews - Partner - Tax

Troy has 15 years of experience in corporate tax advisory. Troy specialises in financial services, infrastructure, technology, forestry and care industries. He helps with a number of tax policy issues (including advising the NZBA, CTG and CAANZ).

Troy regularly acts on PPP, infrastructure design and M&A transactions and advises many participants in the financial services space.

Greg Haddon - Partner - Tax

Greg assists clients with compliance obligations, and advises on the structure of new investment and the tax implications of specific transactions. He is also heavily involved in the development of tax policy in New Zealand and regularly interacts with government ministers and officials on proposed tax changes. 

Greg's industry focus lies in the Financial Services Industry across banking, insurance and wealth management.

David Seath - Partner - Risk Advisory

David Seath leads our risk advisory practice in the South Island and is the Lead Client Service Partner for a South Island based banking group which includes a consumer finance company, an insurance provider and wealth management company. He has worked with this institution for the last 10 years in a business assurance and broader advisory capacity which has given him an appreciation of the changing financial services landscape and the increased responsibilities being placed on financial services institutions to meet their regulatory requirements. David specialises in internal audit and forensic investigation work and was seconded to the Enforcement department of the UK’s financial regulator for two years where he conducted a number of investigations into investment mis selling and insider trading.

David works closely with our national FSI practice to ensure that he brings the best of Deloitte to his client.
