Deloitte’s Automation Lab

Conversations regarding the transformational potential of robotics and cognitive technologies was a big trend for businesses in 2017. To help our clients stay ahead and make the most of automation trends, Deloitte New Zealand introduced our Automation Lab last year.
With the automation market advancing so rapidly, it can be difficult to know the applications of all the new technologies and where the best opportunities are to apply automation in an organisation. Our goal was to help clients understand automation from a business and technology perspective, help them discover the benefits for their company and unlock tangible opportunities.
In October we kicked off with our first Automation Labs using Deloitte’s global methodology.
Deloitte’s Digital and Human Capital Directors and executives from the client gathered in our Greenhouse for the workshop. The Greenhouse, a creative and interactive space that allows dialog, collaboration and creative exploration is the foundation of our Automation lab. The Greenhouse was used to educate the clients about automation and facilitate the application of those learnings to their organisation’s context. Not only was the lab valuable to the clients, we at Deloitte were able to deepen our understanding of real world pain points in the future of work space where automation can provide solutions
As a result of the Automation Lab, our clients can determine how automation aligns with their organisation’s short and long term priorities and identify potential applications for automation.
Mike Millard, former Director in the Digital Practice and Chris Boggs, Director in the Human Capital Practice are the creators of Deloitte New Zealand’s Automation Lab. Together they bring combined expertise in automation technology, digital experience design and the future of work.
