What is the Wellbeing@Work Index?
The Index has been designed to help Australian companies understand, measure and improve the wellbeing of their people and workplaces. It incorporates insights from Medibank’s health expertise, coupled with research from Deloitte Access Economics and Deloitte’s Human Capital consulting capabilities, to measure wellbeing from the perspective of both employees and the businesses they work for.
How does it work?
Available to organisations with more than 100 employees, the Wellbeing@Work IndexTM is the only workplace index that measures wellbeing across four pillars – Mind, Body, Purpose and Place – and from the perspective of both employees and the organisation.
The current state of wellbeing is assessed when both employees and executives are asked to complete a survey. The employee survey measures perspectives on organisational wellbeing and engagement. The second survey (for executives and HR departments) measures the organisation’s perspective on its performance in managing the wellbeing of its people.
We analyse and compare your results against the four pillars above. The report to your organisation will allow you to:
- Understand how your workplace impacts the wellbeing of your employees
- Identify gaps and opportunities to improve your wellbeing strategy
- Benchmark your wellbeing against other organisations
- Monitor your organisation's progress and return on wellbeing investment.
Why is wellbeing important?
Wellbeing in the workplace has been shown to drive employee effectiveness and engagement, boost business performance and help to attract and retain top talent. It also has significant financial benefits, with a greater focus on wellbeing a tonic to absenteeism, which has a direct cost to the Australian economy of $44 billion* each year.
