Deloitte Philippines signs MOA with PUP

STA. MESA, MANILA, 14 December 2023 - As part of its WorldClass program, Deloitte Philippines signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with key leaders of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to explore opportunities to contribute to the success of the state university’s students and alumni.

Leading the signing were Deloitte Philippines Managing Partner & CEO Atty. Eric Landicho and PUP President Manuel Muhi (6th and 7th from left, respectively). Also present during the event were (from left) Deloitte Philippines Talent Acquisition Senior Manager Nonoy Pielago; Deloitte Philippines Tax & Corporate Services Partners Charisse Siao and Senen Quizon; Deloitte Southeast Asia Transfer Pricing Leader Carlo Navarro; Deloitte Philippines Audit & Assurance Partner and Clients & Markets Leader Melissa Delgado; PUP College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF) Dean Julieta Fonte; CAF Chair of the Department of Accountancy Professor Noel Bergonia; CAF Chair of the Department of Management Accounting Professor Marietta Doquenia; CAF OJT and Quality Assurance Coordinator Dr. Catherine Sotto; and CAF Professor and Student Council Faculty Adviser Mark Perlas.

Although not in the photo, PUP AVP for Student Affairs and Services Engr. Florinda Oquindo and Dean of College of Business Administration Dr. Cindy Soliman were also on hand to discuss opportunities for collaboration in the areas of learning and skills building.

WorldClass is Deloitte’s global CSR program that aims to develop job skills, improve educational outcomes, and expand opportunities for 100 million people worldwide by 2030 by tapping into the collective skills and knowledge of Deloitte professionals around the world. Under this program, Deloitte Philippines has agreed to tap its subject matter experts to deliver lectures on specialized topics for the students and professors of PUP’s College of Accountancy. With the support of PUP’s professors, the Firm will also roll out a number of WorldClass video learning tools – covering topics such as how to apply for and secure your target job; basics of cloud computing; business basics for first-time entrepreneurs; and the rules of modern work – that would benefit PUP students across various disciplines and the university’s alumni community.

As the largest public university in the country and the alma mater of several of Deloitte’s key leaders and professionals, PUP is an important institution for Deloitte Philippines. The Firm is invested in the success of the university as a whole and its thousands of students and is committed to working with academic leaders in preparing their graduates to thrive in the new world of work. In 2023 alone, hundreds of Deloitte professionals in the Philippines dedicated more than 2,000 volunteer hours to CSR work to reach over 20,000 individual beneficiaries.
