ICAEW Middle East Accountancy & Finance Excellence Awards names 2014 winners

11 December, 2014 – Anis Sadek, Dubai managing partner at Deloitte Middle East, has been named the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) chartered accountant of the year at the fourth annual ICAEW Middle East Accountancy & Finance Excellence Awards 2014. The awards ceremony took place at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, minister of culture, youth and community development for the United Arab Emirates.

Organized by the ICAEW, the gala event is the only dedicated awards program for accountancy and finance professionals in the region. Accolades were awarded in 11 categories and winners were selected by a judging panel comprising nine of the region’s most respected industry professionals.

About the award, Anis Sadek said: “I am truly delighted to have been nominated for this award and honoured to have been selected by the distinguished judging panel. I qualified as an ICAEW chartered accountant in 1980, and membership of the institute and the excellent support it provides to its members has played a significant role in shaping my professional career over the past 35 years. This recognition of my role in the profession and of my active membership of the ICAEW is a source of immense pride for me. I thank my family and my partners and colleagues at Deloitte for their endless support and encouragement.”

It is worth noting that the ICAEW Chartered Accountant of the Year Award is bestowed to individuals who have inspired business confidence through building trust and cultivating a culture of transparency in their professional work. This award is open to individuals who:

  • consistently met or exceeded challenging objectives to ensure the highest quality of provision of accountancy and/or related services;
  • demonstrated a quality approach through personal values and following the highest professional, technical and ethical working practices;
  • contributed to delivering financial growth during the past year;
  • shown examples of team leadership and superior management;
  • demonstrated commitment to self-improvement and development;
  • remained engaging and inspiring to both peers and colleagues.
