The Fourth Industrial Revolution
At the intersection of readiness and responsibility

Deloitte Global’s third annual survey examines the intersection of readiness and responsibility to see how leaders are balancing the transition to Industry 4.0 – capitalizing on advanced technologies to help propel their businesses forward while acting in more socially responsible ways, particularly in the area of environmental stewardship.

The research surveyed more than 2,000 C-level executives across 19 countries on their approach to four key areas critical to industry 4.0 – strategy, societal impact, talent, and technology – and found that some leaders are performing better than others. Learn how some executives are successfully navigating the intersection of readiness and responsibility when we release the findings on 20 January.

SDGs are moving companies to evolve the modern business models, which has been influenced by global capitalism over the past decades.

The live stream, moderated by Deloitte Asia Pacific Chair Hitoshi Matsumoto, will invite two leaders in the social and business sectors to provide deep insights on how we can drive SDGs and realize sustainable economic growth in Japan.

Expanding the definition of workplace diversity

15:30 – 16:00 (CET)

High-performing organizations know that a workforce that is representative of society’s diversity is not only socially responsible, but also a critical factor for business growth. Despite this, many still operate under a surface-level approach to diversity — one that still isn’t inclusive of neurological, physical, developmental, or even experiential differences.

In this panel, moderated by Frida Poilli , Founder & CEO, Pymetrics, leaders share how broadening the scope of diversity allows us to activate untapped talent, catalyzing real change and fostering a truly inclusive workplace.

Panelists:
Aniela Unguresan, CEO and Co-Founder, EDGE Certification
Claire Darley, Vice President, Digital Media Go to Market & Sales, Adobe EMEA
Richard Houston, CEO, Deloitte North South Europe
Steven Demetriou, Chairman and CEO, Jacobs Engineering

The multiplier effect: how cultures of inclusion and purpose increase our impact

16:00 – 16:30 (CET)

Focusing on purpose, rather than profits, builds business confidence and drives investment. It also has a transformative effect on talent: when people feel they belong and are contributing to something bigger than themselves, they are galvanized personally and professionally.

In this panel, moderated by Joyce Russell, President of Adecco Group US Foundation, we explore how creating cultures of inclusion and purpose help every employee connect the dots between their work and the meaningful impact that it contributes to.

Panelists:
Alicia Tillman, Chief Marketing Officer, SAP
Franz Paasche, SVP, Corporate Affairs, PayPal
Lara Abrash, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte & Touche LLP

The aim of this session is to explore these technological intersections and identify the disruptive new business models and the value propositions they could enable. Panelists will discuss pervasive and intractable problems facing the financial services industry, the potential of emerging technologies to solve these problems, and technology-enabled new value propositions.

Accelerating SDGs

Ice Village, Davos Switzerland

16:00 – 17:00 (CET)

The 2019 Social Progress Index projects that the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will not be achieved until 2073, significantly beyond the original target of 2030. For future generations, this lack of progress is unacceptable and they are loudly and actively telling the world that we must do more to address the critical issues of our time—climate, democracy, and inclusion.

Today’s leaders are attempting to understand these issues better and respond with responsible decision-making. This discussion, moderated by Deloitte Global Chair Sharon Thorne, will focus on the critical roles of business, government and civil society to accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
