We felt thrilled upon learning that we will take part of ‘’Tadarab’’, the Deloitte Middle East internship program. Friends since our early years at university, we were excited to get on this new journey together!

Although the main purpose of this internship was fulfilling a university requirement, we were able to gain real exposure to a professional corporate environment, learn how to communicate and work as a team with the support and guidance of our buddies, seniors, colleagues, and the HR team.

Eminence Building

Up until 2013, Deloitte Middle East’s share of thought leadership and eminence building could be best described as small..  Similar to other Big 4 firms and our wider competition present in our region, we were issuing publications on an ad hoc basis as well as releasing infrequent reports that were and sometimes were not in line with our market’s needs.

Gender equality

The Deloitte Middle East firm continues to be a leader in gender equality in the Middle East region.

At 26 percent according to World Bank estimates, employment rate for women in the Middle East and North Africa is one of the lowest worldwide. Compounded with minimal gender focused legislative laws, and a high attrition rate as very few women reach senior level positions, it comes down to organizations to implement a change to make an impact. The statistic is startling: Only 1.5% women occupy boardroom seats in the MENA region.

Maan Hamadeh works in the consulting practice in the Middle East.  But this is where normal stops. How many Deloitte people have a YouTube video that has had 26.3 million views?

Maan’s story depicts how Deloitte people could make an impact not only through their work but also through their talent and global outlook to different cultures.  Maan is now an ambassador of a project that touches people across the world.

Community Health

Cerebral Palsy is one of the most common congenital disorders of childhood.  It affects muscle tone, movement, motor skills and the ability to communicate. The common approach to communication in this case is to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). There were no solutions in emerging markets like India for affordable AAC technology.
