UAE FTA launches VAT 'Tax Clinics' campaign across UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has launched an innovative campaign to host ‘Tax Clinics’ across the UAE over the next three months, according to its social media release.

The campaign intends to increase awareness of VAT procedures among all business sectors with a focus on assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Tax Clinics provide the opportunity for the FTA to communicate directly with businesses with the objective of promoting compliance with the VAT legislation.

UAE FTA releases updated guidance on Tax Groups

The UAE FTA has released an updated version of its Tax Group User Guide (the Guide), dated July 2018.

In addition to providing insight into the Tax Group functionality within e-Services accounts, the Guide also provides an important clarification on the procedure for adding a member to a Tax Group.  Where a prospective member of a Tax Group is already registered with the FTA, the prospective member must submit a final tax return.  Failure to submit within the deadline will result in a penalty, the prospective member’s TRN will not change status, and it will not be added to the Tax Group, even in cases where preapproval has been obtained.
