Agenda

Given the current landscape, organisations are creating and expanding remote work policies. As communities reopen, organisations are faced with talent and compliance challenges with expanded remote work. In this session, we will discuss various talent approaches including workplace locations and organisation and operations; tax implications of remote workers; and structuring ongoing tracking and management programs to remain compliant and manage risk in 2021 and beyond.
M&A activity in SEA has been affected by the COVID-19 situation but has shown signs of recovery in 2021. The theme for this session is getting the deal done; our focus will be the tax aspects of M&A transactions (including post-integration). We will set the discussion in the context of a strategic M&A transaction in SEA and consider the tax considerations that arise. Best practice and driving (and extracting) value will be considered. Finally, funding considerations will be discussed.
This session will consider the tax issues that arise for incumbent financial institutions and new entrants that are engaged in the development and deployment of new technologies and solutions. Issues related to cryptocurrencies (including digital asset custodians and exchanges) will be discussed as will the broader tax policy response to digitisation. Finally, developments related to digital bond issuances will be discussed.
