Developing as a tax leader

In this session, our speakers will discuss the importance of developing leadership skills presented by a well-known executive coach. This session will feature a panel discussion on growing as a tax professional at each career stage; including the critical skills that are important for tax professionals. At the end of the session, there will be a dialogue with women leaders in taxation in the region.

Lance Tanaka, a well-known executive coach, will share his views on leadership development; his presentation will be relevant not just to global and regional tax leaders, but also to those just getting started in their careers.
A career in taxation is rewarding; tax is the intersection of the law and accounting; all commercial transactions have tax implications especially those that cross borders. At the same time, tax is going through a period of profound change (such as the global tax reset that Base Erosion and Profit Shifting has introduced) and is being disrupted by technology. What does all of this mean for those seeking a career in taxation? What skills are important, not just today, but in five to ten years’ time. This session will explore these issues and more.
This session will discuss key career issues for women in taxation including mentorship and the importance of role models in upper management; recognising and capitalising on key opportunities, keeping up to date and handling increased workloads and building a professional profile.
