Hear what our interns have to share about their Deloitte experience:

I applied for the Deloitte Scholarship because Deloitte is well known for its inclusive and supportive culture, as well as its well-structured training programmes, and I believe that it will be a great place for both my professional and personal growth.

My summer internship in audit was challenging yet fulfilling, as I was assigned to work on engagements from different industries. It was intriguing to see how things came together through applying the concepts learnt in school to the tasks on hand. Also, my technical knowledge has widened under the guidance of my nurturing seniors.

I like how Deloitte advocates work-life balance for its people by organising events such as the Audit Off-Peak Party, Eatz@Deloitte, Inter-departmental games, monthly mentor outings and Mentor Appreciation Day.

Another perk of being a Deloitte scholar is that we are each paired with a Mentor Partner, allowing us to tap on the vast and invaluable experiences of the Partners. Despite his hectic schedule, my Mentor will keep in touch with me to ensure that everything on my end is going smoothly, and I can reach out to him just like a friend.

I like that the Deloitte Inspire Award recognises the efforts and achievements of individuals in the fields of arts, sports and/or community work. Competition for internship positions are intense among the Big Four Accountancy firms so I chose to apply for the Deloitte Inspire Award as it came with the opportunity of an Audit or Tax internship with Deloitte. The Deloitte Inspire Award has also provided me an opportunity to network with other athletes through activities like the athletes’ lunch and the rock climbing session at Climb Central with other awardees.

With no prior real world experience in Audit, my internship with Deloitte has allowed me to gain a greater understanding in audit methodologies used by accounting firms. I learnt more about Deloitte’s company culture and I like its emphasis on the Work Hard, Play Hard motto. There were activities such as the Inter-Departmental Games to help us keep fit and foster greater bonds with fellow colleagues. Other activities such as mentor outings allowed us to spend more time with colleagues outside of work and to try something different. In addition, I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the performers for the Audit Off-Peak Party held at Zouk. Through numerous dance practices, I also grew closer to the other interns in our group ‘CastUsPlease’ and it has proved to be a memorable experience.
