Deloitte Singapore hires new Treasury Advisory head

Taking Deloitte Southeast Asia’s Treasury Advisory practice to new heights

Singapore, 5 January 2015 — On 2 January 2015, Benny Koh joined Deloitte Singapore as Managing Director of the Southeast Asia firm’s Treasury Advisory practice.

With increasing globalisation and regulation, Deloitte is focused on developing capability and capacity to provide treasury solutions to clients in the region. Companies are becoming more sophisticated in managing liquidity, taking in more foreign currency exposure through cross border businesses and transacting derivatives to inoculate market risks; Deloitte is poised to meet the rising demand for such advisory services.

As Singapore is positioned as a global financial centre, foreign companies are also increasingly using Singapore as a regional hub for high-value shared services like cash management and foreign exchange execution.

Benny Koh joins Deloitte with over 20 years of operational treasury experience, ranging from setting up funding programs and originating bond issues for GE Capital, one of the world’s largest corporate borrowers to establishing a retail bank from the ground up in Thailand.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Benny was with Temasek in Singapore, providing leadership for their capital markets, investment funding and foreign exchange management functions.

“I am proud to be leading the expansion of Deloitte’s Treasury Advisory practice for Southeast Asia, joining a global network of Deloitte Treasury professionals to serve clients across different regions.” says Benny Koh, Managing Director of the Treasury Advisory service line, Deloitte Southeast Asia.

“As Asia is widely seen as the growth engine for the next decade, we expect rising demand for treasury advisory services on the back of robust Mergers & Acquisitions activities, increases in Private Equity investments and overall business growth for Asian enterprises,” Mr Koh added.

Chaly Mah, Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte Southeast Asia shares, “Globally, Deloitte has a mature and robust treasury advisory service and we see this as an opportune time to boost this service for our clients in Southeast Asia. We are seeing Southeast Asia businesses expanding around the world and these businesses will require treasury expertise to manage financial risks. Benny’s experience in treasury advisory will ensure that Deloitte continues to be well placed to meet and exceed our clients’ needs in this region.”
