Shantini is the Singapore Tax & Legal Leader for Deloitte Private that serves business owners, family groups, and high-net-worth individuals in areas including succession planning, international tax, estate planning, and wealth preservation. In this role, she has worked with a number of ultra high-net-worth families to set up family office, fund and trust structures and obtain the relevant incentives and licensing exemptions, and advised on immigration planning, exchange of information under CRS, restructuring including pre-IPO structuring, relocation of headquarters to Singapore, tax incentives, philanthropy, and tax residency.

In her role as Business Tax Partner, Shantini has been involved in major consultancy projects relating to mergers and acquisitions, developing tax efficient investment structures (both inbound and outbound), restructuring of business operations, cross-border tax reviews, dispute resolution, cash pooling, incentive planning, stamp duty, and transfer pricing. She has extensive experience negotiating and dealing with the government authorities to resolve challenging tax and stamp duty issues and to obtain tax incentives and grants. She has also advised multiple fund managers (including multi-family offices) on the design and implementation of the fund investment and fund management strategy and provided support on the application for tax incentives for funds including VCCs, and the fund manager.

In addition, Shantini leads the Law Firm Services practice and has assisted several top tier US, UK and Australian law firms with structuring and setting up their law firm practices in Singapore and advised extensively on tax issues and regulatory matters unique to foreign law firms in Singapore including issues arising on a merger/joint venture between a foreign law firm and a local law firm. She is also a Mergers and Acquisitions Tax Partner and she leads the Stamp Duty Practice.

Shantini is a regular speaker at global conferences and external seminars in Singapore, New York, and London. She has taught International Tax modules for the Master of Tax programme at one of the Singapore Universities and teaches International Tax modules at the Tax Academy and has contributed articles to various international tax publications and journals. Shantini has been nominated by peers and clients for inclusion in the Deloitte global publications “Tax Controversy Leaders” and “Women in Tax Leaders”. Shantini has been appointed as a Member of the National Parks Board, a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development.
