We are pleased to share our budget publications analysing the Tanzania 2016/17 budget that was presented on Wednesday, 8 June 2016 by Hon. Dr Philip Mpango, the Minister for Finance and Planning. These publications include the highlights of this year's budget (Budget Highlights) and an in depth analysis of the budget (Budget Insight). Tanzania Budget Highlights 2016

This publication incorporates changes in legislation based on the 2016 Budget speech and other subsidiary legislation. It also includes references to changes in the practice of the Tanzania Revenue Authority where they are significant.

Notably, some changes may arise when the Finance Bill and subsequently the Finance Act 2016 are published.

It is perhaps right to applaud Hon. Dr Philip Mpango, the Minister for Finance and Planning, for his maiden Budget Speech and giving a glimpse on how the Government intends to meet the pledges that were made during last year’s campaigns. With TZS 29,540 billion budget for the coming fiscal year and listening to the Minister’s Budget Speech, it was possible to decipher that the Government is looking at a targeted approach to growing the economy and laying the foundation for the next five years.
