Endless possibilities

I still remember the jitters I felt before joining Deloitte in 2014. As a new parent, the idea of embarking on a new professional journey seemed very daunting. The balance between personal life and professional aspirations was challenging, and I was unsure if I could manage both effectively. But my good sense persevered and I embarked on this adventure. All the misgivings I had vanished into thin air, as I found support from all corners when I joined the organization. I seized opportunities, including flexible work arrangements, and flourished in a collaborative environment that fostered my entrepreneurial spirit. Sky was the limit, and I was determined to soar high.

When challenges arise…

Like any journey, mine had its share of challenges. The first major challenge came in the form of a high-stakes project, a difficult assignment that pushed me to my limits, forcing me to question my abilities and what I stood for. The assignment was a huge one and as always, I gave it my all to make it a success. But whatever I did never seemed enough. It impacted my well-being, and I found myself seeking help professionally. But through this all, I persevered and kept the belief that this too shall pass. I sought guidance and leaned on my support system, which included my family and friends.

The force that lifted me up

With the unwavering support and belief of colleagues and mentors at Deloitte, I was able to tide through this dark time and start afresh. My mentors and supporters were there to lend a listening ear to me during these testing times and supported the idea of moving on and taking up a different assignment after a year of a downward spiral. They helped me see that it was okay reassess my career path. My self-belief and confidence slowly healed, and I found wind beneath my wings once again! The resilience and belief paid off and I got promoted to a Senior Manager in 2024! This promotion was a testament to my hard work and the support I received from my mentors and colleagues. I had never dreamt of such heights when I started my journey but found myself aspiring for it due to the unwavering support of family and mentors, determination and self-belief.

Sky is the limit!

My journey at Deloitte has been a remarkable odyssey of self-discovery and growth and an ode to the ‘take the wheel and steer’ spirit! Every challenge I faced taught me something new about myself and my capabilities. The biggest take away from my journey so far has been to know that one’s true character shines in adverse situations and staying resilient through such times makes one stronger. Resilience is not just about enduring hardships, but also about learning and growing from them. Resilience helped me in ‘zooming out’, which entailed considering the adversity and seeing how this fit into the wider context of my life and career and helped me take the appropriate action. It allowed me to maintain perspective and focus on long-term goals. Always remember – when the going gets tough, the tough get going! Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and never underestimate the power of a supportive community.
