Career Journey: Garvit Sharma

Leveraging the knowledge network

Being a part of the Knowledge Management team, creating connections between people, and connecting people to content is the mantra for Garvit. His passion for knowledge sharing and social media has made him one of the top five social media ambassadors in Deloitte and his love for public speaking inspires him to deliver intriguing stories in the Toastmasters club.

In your own words, how would you describe Deloitte's distinctive culture?

Deloitte's unique culture allows you to bring your authentic self to work. The people, clients and everyone whom you connect with creates an environment that encourages you to learn and grow. The best part about working here is knowing that the organization is truly invested in you. The perfect example of this is the growth and learning opportunities that the firm provides based on your strengths.

What do you find most satisfying and meaningful about your career at Deloitte?

The most satisfying thing for me is that no matter how you are contributing to the firm, you are always part of something bigger. Linking my daily work to the organization's bigger purpose gives me a lot of satisfaction and pride.

What is one of the most memorable moments in your career at Deloitte so far?

One of my most memorable moments came during Impact Day, a day set aside by professionals at Deloitte to serve the community. It was a wonderful experience teaching school children and they made my day memorable by making a thank you card for me. This was the highlight of my day and will be forever etched in my memory. The opportunity that I got to connect with the less privileged and making moments matter to them has been a great feeling and I am very grateful to Deloitte for that.

How do you describe what you do at Deloitte to friends and family?

I am the part of the knowledge management team which handles the information & resources used by Deloitte's leaders/ consultants/ other professionals. I work towards achieving organizational objectives by making the best use of knowledge resources.

The majority of my work involves—

Advising clients about the best ways to represent their content on websites. My work also involves advising in building the most relevant & useful websites for our PPMDs/ consultants/ marketing managers. Also, building relationships to capture the best in class content which can be useful for the business.

Who are you outside of Deloitte? (Hobbies, passions, interests)

I am passionate about public speaking and I am presently the president of Deloitte Hyderabad Toastmasters Club (a group for public speaking & leadership). This hobby gets translated professionally as it has helped me become a training facilitator in the organization. I love sharing information on social media and I am amongst the top five social media ambassadors for Deloitte. Playing Cricket is another hobby of mine. Outside work hours, the Knowledge Services team catch up and bond over a game of cricket.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone interested in joining Deloitte?

This is an organization with a supportive culture where learning never stops. If you are looking for an organization that invests in you, Join Deloitte.
