Arti - Finding a healthy balance

Health and wellbeing is a huge part of Arti’s life. Read how it’s become a big part of her career with us, too.

How did you join Deloitte?

I moved to the UK firm as an experienced hire from the Toronto practice. But prior to joining Deloitte in Canada, I was working for another company in our industry.

What are you responsible for in your role?

Currently my project is to lead on all things related to Employee wellness across Consulting, which is known as Flourish. I’m responsible for working with leadership to define what activities and initiatives we will undertake from a wellness standpoint, and then administer them. With the support of my team, I’m also working with senior stakeholders across consulting and the wider firm to drive employee wellness initiatives.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

From a work and flexibility standpoint, I work from home one day a week. I am also able to drive my schedule, which puts me in control of when and where I work. This gives me great flexibility. In previous project-related roles, I tended to work from home one day a week. I’ve tried to only be onsite when I needed to be for client stuff, and have always encouraged my teams to do the same.

What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?

I’ve had so many as I’ve been with the firm for 10 years almost! But I have two. The first came when I was working in the Canadian firm. I was able to conduct a consulting project for a NGO in Botswana, which was incredible – specially to see how our consulting skills can be translated to inspire so much change for companies having such a great impact. And the other would be all aspects of the current role I have now. I get to take my passion for health and wellness (I am fitness instructor and personal trainer as well on the side) and my experience in the business, to drive change across our overall consulting culture.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am very interested in health and wellness, so I spend a lot of time in the gym, going to and giving talks on health and wellness. I even get to teach and train clients. I also love learning, and have been taking a course in my spare time. My family and friends are hugely important to me, so I also spend a lot of time with my husband, and our social circle.
