Shenji Schaeppi – People make work, work

How did you join Deloitte?

I was contacted by a recruiter while working on a project in London. I was based in Switzerland at the time.

What are you responsible for in your role?

Managing client work, reviewing deliverables and developing team members. I create training courses and provide guidance on topics related to Robotic Process Automation, using my technical background and industry knowledge. I am also actively involved in our recruitment process, conducting case study interviews, group exercises etc.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

I can work from home or leave for personal commitments without issue. Some planning and open communication goes a long way. Forcing a rigid work structure is generally frowned upon!

What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?

Being able to support the development of team members and seeing them progress e.g. get promoted - is very satisfying. Ultimately, we are a people business, and it is the people you work with which determines not only your productivity, but also your wellbeing (and longevity at the firm!).

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Reading up on the latest technologies and refresh my programming skills. I also enjoy badminton and scuba diving.
